FAQ

Frequently asked questions
about Rice Cooking facility SILK

Introducing frequently asked questions about SILK, such as the features of pressure-type IH rice cooking and the operation of rice cooking equipment.

Q

What is the difference between pressurized and non-pressurized?

A

Pressure cooking at 1.2 atm and 106°C ensures heat penetrates to the core of each grain, resulting in rice that resists flavor degradation and cooks up plump and glossy.
Furthermore, by recapturing steam generated during cooking, the ambient temperature around the cooker remains stable, enabling consistent, reproducible results.

Q

What is the difference between gas and IH?

A

Gas rice cookers only heat the bottom of the pot, while SILK cookers can heat the pot from both the bottom and sides, allowing for more precise heating adjustment.

Q

Isn't IH a low-heat cooker?

A

IH has higher thermal efficiency than gas, and can produce the same heat power as gas with fewer calories. Since the heat power is not visible, it may appear weak at first glance, but in fact, IH boasts strong heat power due to bottom and side heating, and is in no way inferior to gas.

Q

Is the IH work environment good?

A

Compared to gas cooking, it generates less waste heat, reducing the air conditioning load and allowing the cooking chamber to be maintained at a constant room temperature throughout the year.

Q

Is it true that the amount of exhaust heat is low?

A

Approximately 40% reduction effect is expected compared to gas cooking equipment with the same capacity.

Q

Doesn't IH consume a lot of electricity?

A

Electricity consumption per pot is approximately 2.1kWh. (*Converted to 7kg of raw rice)

Q

Does IH cooktop restore power faster during disasters?

A

Does IH cooktop recovery happen faster during disasters? With gas rice cookers, both electricity and gas need to be restored before use, but IH cooktops can operate as long as electricity is restored.

Q

How much can I cook?

A

Raw rice weighs 3kg to 7kg per pot.

Q

What's the lineup?

A

The SILK lineup includes models with capacities of 60 pots/hour, 80 pots/hour, and 120 pots/hour. (※Proposals for capacities below 60 pots/hour are also possible) View the lineup page here.
We also offer a “Pressurized Gas Rice Cooking System” with the same specifications, but using gas as the sole heat source for the rice cookers.

Q

What types of industries use SILK?

A

Our rice cookers are used by rice cooking vendors supplying rice products to convenience stores and supermarkets, as well as by rice cooking centers supplying rice to school lunch programs and restaurant chains. The recommended meal capacity ranges from 3,000 meals per hour to 9,000 meals per hour. We also offer IH rice cooking lines for smaller-scale operations. Please use the inquiry form at the bottom of the page to contact us.

Q

Can we discuss gas-fired rice cookers as well?

A

Yes, it is possible.
While SILK is an IH-type rice cooking line, we can also propose gas-type rice cooking equipment based on the same line configuration, processes, and design as SILK.

Q

How can I cook rice so it tastes delicious?

A

Maintaining consistent time, weight, and temperature while cooking with an optimal heat pattern is crucial.
Satake offers online quality training courses for rice cooking businesses.
